Hong Kong Stocks Open Higher as Wall Street Rally Boosts Risk Appetite

MT Newswires Live07-10

Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Friday as optimism surrounding technology shares outweighed concerns over renewed tensions in the Middle East.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.8%, or 183.26 points, to 24,213.44, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 0.9%, or 68.01 points, to 8,065.30.

Wall Street ended broadly higher overnight, led by technology stocks, with the Nasdaq posting the strongest gains, followed by the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

Investors also monitored renewed military exchanges between the United States and Iran after both countries reported strikes in the Gulf, raising fresh doubts over the durability of their interim agreement.
