LONGi Green Energy Technology (SHA:601012) began mass production of its alloy contact matrix solar cells at its facility in Shaanxi, China, according to a Thursday press release.
The cells replace silver with copper as prices of the precious metal have soared since 2025, Bloomberg reported separately.
LONGi's solar modules attained a certified output of 672 watts with an efficiency of 27.6%, the Chinese solar giant said.
Shares rose 3% during morning trading on Friday.
