Sector Update: Healthcare Stocks Mixed Premarket Tuesday

Healthcare stocks were mixed premarket Tuesday, with the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) down 0.3% and the iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) 0.1% higher.

HCA Healthcare (HCA) shares were down more than 9% after the company cut its 2026 adjusted diluted EPS guidance.

NextCure (NXTC) will merge with privately held Avere Therapeutics in an all-stock transaction to advance Avere's lead oral IL-23 therapy, AVR-001, for inflammatory diseases, the company said. NextCure shares were surging past 313% pre-bell.

Spero Therapeutics (SPRO) has licensed exclusive worldwide rights, excluding Greater China, to develop and commercialize Innovent Biologics' immunology drug candidate, IBI355, under a deal valued at up to about $1.1 billion, the companies said. Spero Therapeutics stock was up 0.5% premarket.
