The US has approved purchases of advanced AI chips from Nvidia (NVDA) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) by a ZTE unit and two other Chinese firms, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing documents and two sources familiar with the matter.

ZTE Kangxun Telecom and Maginfra have been cleared to purchase Nvidia's H200 chips, while Kingsoft unit Zhuhai Hengqin Yunxiang Zhisheng Network Technology has been permitted to use certain comparable AMD chips, the report said, citing the documents and sources.

The US Commerce Department didn't immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
