Amazon-backed (AMZN) Anthropic's Claude Mythos was cited by Canada's banking regulator in an April warning that advanced AI models could accelerate cyber threats by reducing the time available to detect and address vulnerabilities, Reuters reported Monday, citing an email obtained through an access-to-information request.
The regulator sent the warning to technology, security and risk executives across the financial sector and later published broader guidance on generative and agentic AI, according to the report.
Several of Canada's largest banks are expanding AI initiatives while investing in AI-powered tools and stronger cyber defenses, Reuters added.
Anthropic did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
