Meta Platforms (META) is shutting down a newly launched artificial-intelligence image-generation feature after it sparked widespread backlash over privacy concerns, the company said Friday via its Instagram unit.
The feature, part of Meta's Muse Image model integrated into its Meta AI chatbot, allowed users to generate images using public Instagram photos.
Meta said its intent was to offer a creative tool with user control, but acknowledged the feature "missed the mark" and removed it after launch.
