UBS Group (UBS) hired former Goldman Sachs (GS) managing director Takehiro Sakuramoto to head its debt capital markets division in Japan, Bloomberg News reported Thursday, citing an internal memo.
The investment bank plans to pursue underwriting mandates for Japanese corporate bonds with an initial emphasis on foreign currency-denominated debt, the news outlet reported.
The appointment is part of an expansion strategy in the country under Chief Executive Officer Sergio Ermotti, following the previous recruitments of Satoshi Kitada and Yuya Suzuki, Bloomberg reported.
UBS Group and Goldman Sachs did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
