Nokia (NOK) said Wednesday it launched commercial AI-RAN platform to boost mobile network capacity and efficiency using artificial intelligence.
The company said the platform, built on its AI-native network architecture and NVIDIA's (NVDA) accelerated computing, has demonstrated more than 20% gains in spectral efficiency and targets 50% gains by 2027 and more than 100% by 2028.
Nokia said the AI-RAN platform will enter pilot deployments later this year and become commercially available in 2027 through a subscription-based software model that enables network upgrades without hardware refreshes.
The platform supports 4G, 5G and future 6G networks and is compatible with Open RAN standards, it added.
