Fed's Williams: Supply-demand Imbalances from AI Should Recede

0929 ET - As policymakers navigate the surge in AI related investments and its impact on inflation, New York Federal Reserve President John Williams said the supply-demand imbalances stemming from AI-related investment should recede over time as more supply comes online. In the June Fed minutes, "Some participants" remarked that productivity gains associated with AI adoption would eventually reduce production costs and increase aggregate supply, which should put downward pressure on inflation. However -- they noted this effect would likely take time to materialize. (jessica.coacci@wsj.com)
