SD Guthrie's Land Sale Could Boost Earnings

Dow Jones07-16

0106 GMT - SD Guthrie's land sale in Kuala Selangor could unlock value from low-yield plantation assets while supporting future earnings through a joint industrial park development with Sime Darby Property, Public Investment Bank analyst Chong Hoe Leong says in a note. The company will dispose of 1,021.9 acres for 798.3 million ringgit and retain a 50% stake in the project through the joint venture. The deal is expected to generate a one-off gain of about 408 million ringgit this year, he says. Chong also expects stronger 2Q earnings, supported by higher locked-in crude palm oil prices and stronger production. Public Investment Bank maintains an outperform rating on SD Guthrie, keeps target price at 7.23 ringgit. Shares are 1.2% higher at 6.70 ringgit. (yingxian.wong@wsj.com)
