Vale to Adopt Wabtec's Train Control Technology in Brazil

Wabtec (WAB) said Thursday it has signed an agreement with Vale (VALE) to implement the Positive Train Control system to improve safety standards on the Carajas Railway and the Vitoria a Minas Railway in Brazil.

The firm said that the project, representing an investment of about 1 billion Brazilian real ($196 million), will be implemented in phases through 2031.

The PTC system enhances predictability and reliability in railway operations through data transmission and monitoring technology, the company said.
