1122 GMT - Burberry's sales update shows several encouraging developments, with the performance in China a key positive, AlphaValue's Jie Zhang says in a note. The British luxury group said that comparable retail sales for its fiscal first quarter rose by 5%. Although management described the operating environment in China as mixed, the latest collections and targeted marketing initiatives are resonating well with local consumers, the analyst says. Continued growth among Gen Z customers in China also suggests the brand is strengthening its appeal with younger luxury consumers, she added. The recovery in global tourism and the pace of margin expansion will determine the next stage of the revamp, Zhang says. Shares are down 0.7%. (andrea.figueras@wsj.com)
