Intel, Sandisk, SAP, Newmont, and More Stocks That Explain Today's Market

Dow Jones07-24 18:21

Stock futures were rising on Friday as oil prices retreated, helping to ease worries about a flare-up in inflation that could bolster the case for interest-rate hikes.

These stocks were making moves in premarket trading:

Intel rose 4.8% after the chip manufacturer's second-quarter earnings and revenue beat analyst expectations, as the artificial-intelligence boom drives up demand for semiconductors.

Other AI stocks weren't getting much of a boost from Intel's earnings beat. Memory-chip maker Micron slid 1.8% and memory-card maker Sandisk declined 2.4%.

SAP gained 6.1% after the German company beat Wall Street's second-quarter earnings target, helping to ease some fears about how AI is disrupting software.

Newmont climbed 1.1% after the gold miner posted better-than-expected second-quarter earnings, as cost control helped it to offset weaker bullion prices and an earthquake.

Deckers Outdoor slipped 2.9% after the Hoka and Ugg maker raised its profit outlook but reported a slowdown in sales growth for the fiscal first quarter.
