Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Anthropic have partnered to deploy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD Instinct MI450 Series GPUs in AMD Helios rack-scale systems, with the first deployment planned for the first half of next year, AMD said Wednesday.

The companies have also launched a multi-year engineering collaboration to use Anthropic's Claude models to optimize workloads for AMD Instinct GPUs and accelerate development of AMD's ROCm software, AMD said.

AMD said it will adopt Claude across its engineering and product development teams.

AMD has committed to make a strategic equity investment of up to $5 billion in Anthropic in the future.
