Tesla is scheduled to report its second-quarter results on Wednesday after the market close. Here is what you need to know.

NET INCOME: The electric-vehicle maker is expected to post a profit of $1.23 billion, compared with $1.17 billion the year before, according to FactSet.

ADJUSTED EARNINGS: Stripping out certain one-time items, earnings are expected to come in at 53 cents a share, compared with 40 cents a share the prior year.

REVENUE: The company is expected to report $26.42 billion in sales, up from $22.5 billion in the year-ago quarter, according to FactSet.

The stock has edged down 1.6% during the past three months and recently traded around $380.33.

WHAT TO WATCH:

--Tesla's robotaxi deployments will be a key focus for investors after the company missed an original target of having robotaxis in nine cities by the first half of this year, with operations in five markets and four others in preparation, Bank of America analysts said in a note. Investors will be particularly interested in the pace of robotaxi fleet scaling and new markets, the analysts said. The automaker said Tuesday it expanded its robotaxi service to Tampa and Orlando, Fla.

--Wall Street is also focused on a potential merger between Tesla and another of Elon Musk's companies, SpaceX, after it went public last month. "We see this as likely to happen sooner rather than later," Baird analysts said of a potential merger.

--Ahead of its quarterly results, Tesla earlier this month disclosed a jump in second-quarter deliveries, bucking a wider downturn in the U.S. EV market. The company said it sold 480,126 electric vehicles globally in the quarter, up 25% from the same period last year. Tesla also reported 40.6% growth in its energy business, a figure which measures how much battery energy the company deployed in the quarter.
