Energy stocks rose late Monday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index rising 0.7% and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) adding 0.8%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index gained 0.4%, and the Dow Jones US Utilities Index shed 0.6%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose 1.4% to $83.64 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent added 1.5% to $89.43 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures fell 1.9% to $2.86 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Fervo Energy (FRVO) shares jumped 4.4% after Jefferies upgraded the stock to buy from hold and cut its price target to $34 from $41.
