Beer Headwinds Will Persist After Temporary Summer Boost, Boston Beer CEO Says

2257 GMT [Dow Jones]--Boston Beer CEO Jim Koch that the FIFA World Cup and celebrations around America's 250th birthday in July helped to revive a soft beer market in the second quarter, particularly in May. But those boosts are likely transitory, Koch says, with consumer pressures spelling continued struggles for the rest of the year. "We anticipate industry volume headwinds for the remainder of 2026 as consumers remain under pressure from the cumulative effects of inflation and a significant increase in gas prices," Koch says on a call with analysts.
