Workplace safety professionals will soon be able to use an artificial intelligence (AI) tool to analyse site photographs, flag common hazards and pull up relevant guidance.\nThe Safety Advisory and Guidance Engine (SAGE) is being developed to make it easier for practitioners to navigate Singapore's workplace safety rules, advisories and industry guidance. Beta testing will begin in August 2026, with a public launch planned for January 2027.\n\"Using AI, SAGE can analyse workplace photos to identify common risks, draw lessons from similar scenarios, and support seven languages,\" says Minister of State for Manpower Dinesh Vasu Dash at the Singapore Workplace Safety and Health Conference 2026.\nThe photo-analysis function makes SAGE more than a search tool. A practitioner could use an image from a worksite to identify potential risks before referring to the platform for relevant safety measures and guidance.\nSAGE is being developed by the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council and the Singapore Institution of Safety Officers, with input from industry. It also incorporates feedback from the Ministry of National Development's Action Team to Improve Built Environment Productivity.\nThe tool aims to support, rather than replace, professional judgement. Its prototype draws on about 1,800 curated documents, including the Workplace Safety and Health Act, approved codes of practice, official advisories and industry guidance. Bringing those materials into one platform could reduce the time safety teams spend searching across different sources and help companies apply guidance more consistently.\nUsers will not need to write detailed AI prompts. Instead, SAGE will guide them through common workplace safety tasks, making it easier to use for practitioners with little experience of AI.\nThe platform will be available in English, Malay, Mandarin, Tamil, Bengali, Hindi and Burmese.
