0814 ET - Cal-Maine Food's F4Q results missed already low expectations, Benchmark analysts say in a research note. The quarter was hurt by an oversupply of eggs, which drove prices to historically low inflation-adjusted levels. "Looking ahead, while we do not expect a dramatic pricing improvement, we do believe industry supply is tightening to support pricing improvement from unsustainable levels in recent months," the analysts write. They will be looking for evidence on Wednesday's earnings call that the sector is correcting the oversupply dynamic. Cal-Maine shares are off about 6% premarket, a modest reaction that the analysts say "demonstrates how well understood the egg sector pricing headwinds are." (connor.hart@wsj.com)
