Carrefour Faces High Bar for Margin Targets After First-half Miss

Dow Jones07-24

0847 GMT - Carrefour's first-half margin miss is likely to shift investor attention to an increasingly demanding set of full-year targets, Jefferies analysts say in a note. The supermarket operator confirmed 2026 financial guidance that includes a pledge to expand full-year operating margins by more than a quarter percentage point. However, after posting a modest margin expansion in the first six months, it now faces an extraordinarily back-end-loaded second half to make good on its promise, Jefferies says. The company must achieve a sharp operational turnaround in the second half, the analysts add. Shares are down 4.3% at 15.79 euros. (anthony.orunagoriainoff@dowjones.com)
