Dow Jones07-22

Shares of Weatherford rose after its second-quarter revenue topped analyst estimates.

The stock ticked up 2% after hours to $85.30 a share. Ahead of Tuesday's close, shares were up 3% year to date.

The global energy and oilfield services company reported revenue decreased 8% year over year to $1.11 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet estimated $1.07 billion.

Weatherford posted net income of $39 million, or 55 cents a share, compared with $136 million, or $1.87 a share, a year earlier.

Chief Executive Girish Saligram said the company performed well despite significant disruption in the Middle East.

Weatherford said its acquisition of NCS Multistage strengthened its portfolio, expanded its technology offering and gave it at least $15 million of cost synergies upon closing and integration.

The company slightly lowered its total year outlook and said the second half of the year represents a significant ramp up in margin contribution versus the first half.
