Roche's Sales-growth Drivers are Underperforming

Dow Jones07-23

0718 GMT - Roche Holding's second-quarter sales were slightly ahead of expectations, but many of its long-term growth drivers came in weaker than anticipated, Intron Health's Naresh Chouhan and Dominic Rose say in a research note. The Swiss drugmaker's quarterly sales beat expectations by 1%, but this was driven by better-than-forecast performances from drugs facing imminent or current biosimilar competition such as Perjeta, Xolair and Actemra, according to Intron. Many drugs which are supposed to be growth drivers like Vabysmo, Polivy, Gazyva and Phesgo missed expectations, the analysts say. "This was as we had expected but now this is out of the way, the [company's new breast-cancer drug] launch could potentially surprise on the upside and we expect many investors to want to own the shares around the time of the launch," the analysts say.
