These EAMs use Moomoo's platform to manage their end clients' portfolios, from trade execution and custody to portfolio reporting across asset classes.\nTo help drive that growth, Moomoo has appointed Elgin Ting as head of private wealth and institutional. Ting brings close to 30 years of financial services experience across banks, asset managers and brokerages.\n\"It's an exciting time for wealth management,\" says Ting. \"The private wealth investor in Singapore is increasingly choosing digital-first, a shift that would have seemed unlikely just a few years ago.\"\nFollowing SGX's announcement to implement the post-trade custody model from mid-July, Moomoo Singapore also found that its CDP account transfer feature saw strong early uptake with nearly 60% of transfer orders completed as of July 13.\nThese figures were released at this year's MooFest, held at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre over the weekend. Photo: Moomoo Singapore\nThe event also featured several forums, including a leadership dialogue, Can Singapore Become Asia's Investment Hub for the Next Generation?, with Ng Yao Loong, SGX's head of global financial markets, Jeffery Tan, chairman of SGListCos and moderated by Jeyson.\nDuring the dialogue, Yao Loong revealed that the exchange would be launching Singapore depository receipts (SDRs) in US-underlying stocks this week.\nThe announcement was made in response to Jeyson's question as to what needs to shift for the local bourse and what's genuinely moving the needle for the Singapore market.\n\"It's not one thing,\" said Yao Loong, referring to already-introduced initiatives such as the Equity Market Development Programme (EQDP) and the Global Listing Board (GLB). The EQDP was first introduced by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in February 2025 in a bid to boost trading liquidity on the SGX, after an equities market review group was formed in August 2024. The GLB, which is meant for eligible companies seeking to dual-list on the SGX and the Nasdaq concurrently, is another such initiative proposed by the review group.\nInstead, Yao Loong noted that the market will need a few things, or \"even more than a few things coming together\" for it to attract quality listings and to drive trading liquidity, even though activity levels have risen compared with 12 to 18 months ago.\nWhen asked which stocks it'll be tracking, Yao Loong declined to reveal specific names, but dropped hints saying they will be\"familiar\" names including a platform company that helps you\n\"get from point A to B\". Another stock is one that would've been in the news lately.\nSGX already runs a slate of SDRs on underlying stocks from Indonesia, Thailand and Hong Kong, with daily trading volumes at around $15 million to $20 million in June. The latest product will provide local investors a means to gain exposure to US equities through a Singapore dollar (SGD)-denominated instrument, without requiring a separate US brokerage account.\nTo Tan, Singapore's edge has never been its product shelf, but its infrastructure. \"We've got great infrastructure going for us,\" he said, pointing to its governance standards and rule of law. \"All of those are great fundamentals to have,\" he added.\nThat said, the gap lies in investor education, which Tan believes, should start in school, as investment is a life skill that one needs to draw on regularly.\nOn education, Yao Loong said that the SGX is currently focused on providing experiential learning, where it introduces investors physically to companies, rather than trying to impart lessons classroom-style. \"We shouldn't be customising or changing the way you learn in order for us or for you to fit into how we convey. We should change,\" he stressed. \"We should evolve into how you learn.\"\nOn communication, Tan highlighted Singapore's small- and mid-caps (SMIDs), many of which have good businesses and great models. \"It's the best kept secret,\" he said, referring to how many of these companies don't share their stories, where their business stands and where it's headed.\nA large part of it, he added, is due to Singapore's culture of not providing forward-looking statements for fear of being held to it later. His advice to them?
