Archer Unveils Halo Autonomous VTOL, Names Marubeni Aerospace Launch Partner

Archer Aviation (ACHR) on Wednesday unveiled Halo, the commercial variant of its jointly developed autonomous hybrid-electric VTOL platform with Anduril, and named Japan's Marubeni Aerospace as its first strategic launch partner.

Halo shares its airframe, hybrid-electric powertrain and core systems with Thunder, the defense variant introduced by Anduril earlier this week, Archer said.

Archer said the aircraft is designed for long-range, heavy-payload missions across freight, offshore energy, maritime, humanitarian and medical logistics.

The company said Halo combines vertical takeoff and landing capability with autonomous operation and hybrid-electric propulsion to lower operating costs and expand access to locations without runways.
