Five Below Investigates Cyberattack

Dow Jones07-23

Five Below said it identified anomalous activity on an employee's company-issued computer.

The specialty value discount retailer said it activated its cybersecurity incident response plan, initiated a forensic investigation with assistance from third-party cybersecurity experts and took immediate steps to contain the activity.

The investigation determined that on July 14 an actor used social engineering techniques to exfiltrate a number of files from the affected computer.

Five Below said it successfully contained and terminated the unauthorized access and no personally identifiable information was accessed or exfiltrated. It added that its other systems, platforms, data and environments are unaffected.
