Wingstop Tech and Menu Innovation Can Win over Customers

Dow Jones07-23

1146 ET - Wingstop's core customer base, younger and low-income consumers, is under financial pressure, but its loyalty program, smart kitchen and menu innovation can drive growth, D.A. Davidson analysts Matt Curtis and Andrew Tompkins said in a research note. The analysts said Wingstop's new loyalty program spiked app downloads, and engagement remains elevated. They said Wingstop's smart kitchens should improve speed, accuracy and consistency though progress appears slower than expected. The analysts recommended Wingstop aggressively bolster innovation by rolling out new flavors, sauces and sides, and focus on better value positioning. (grace.yoon@wsj.com)
