Vision Marine Technologies (VMAR) filed a US patent application for a low-voltage power management system designed to preserve battery power for critical onboard functions in electric boats, the company said Wednesday.

The proposed technology prioritizes essential electrical systems while disconnecting unnecessary loads when a vessel is idle, in storage or undergoing service, it said.

Vision Marine said the filing expands its intellectual property portfolio around its E-Motion 180E high-voltage electric propulsion platform, which integrates propulsion, battery, safety and digital control systems.

Vision Marine Technologies stock plummeted 4.7% during Wednesday's premarket.
