Trump Touts Tariffs, Auto Manufacturing Agenda at GM Facility in Michigan

President Donald Trump promoted his tariff and manufacturing agenda during a visit to a General Motors facility in Michigan, saying the policies had helped revive US auto production, Bloomberg reported Monday.

Trump praised GM Chief Executive Mary Barra and President Mark Reuss for bringing some production back from Mexico, saying companies avoid tariffs by manufacturing in the United States, according to the report.

Bloomberg said Trump also highlighted efforts to ease federal fuel economy standards, criticized United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain, and argued his [Trump's] policies had helped preserve the US auto industry ahead of November's midterm elections
