U.S. Futures Mixed, European Stocks Rise

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.2% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.2%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.2% in morning trading. Man Group rose 8.6% and Sika climbed 6.2%. On the other hand, Koninklijke Philips sunk 7.8%, and Saipem dropped 7.7%. The FTSE 100 added 0.1%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 0.4% and Germany's DAX rose 0.5%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 97.58.

In commodities, Brent crude fell 2% to $84.19 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 1.9% to $81.07 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 3.1% to 56.55 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield declined by 1 basis point to 3.145% from 3.158%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury fell by 4 basis points to 4.62% from 4.658%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index declined 4%, whereas Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.2%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite declined 1.2%.
