Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $3.79.
Sales and service revenues for the quarter ended June 30 were $3.42 billion, up from $3.08 billion a year earlier.
Analysts polled by FactSet expected $3.15 billion.
Shares of the company were up 11% in Thursday premarket activity.
