Unilever (UL) agreed to protect the employment terms and conditions of workers in its European and UK food business for two years after its planned 2027 merger with McCormick (MKC), Reuters reported Wednesday, citing a memo.
The agreement will remain in place until at least mid-2029 and exceeds the standard one-year protection typically provided under European Union and UK legislation following corporate transactions, the report said.
The merger, announced in March and expected to close in mid-2027, covers a business employing about 4,800 people across Europe and the UK, Reuters added.
Unilever and McCormick did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
