SMU worked with SAP and ABeam Consulting on the implementation.\nAccording to the university, the overhaul has standardised workflows, reduced system complexity and improved visibility across its operations. Its finance teams can now see spending commitments before liabilities are recorded, while employees can access leave applications and HR services through a single platform.\n\"By modernising our core platforms, harmonising processes and creating a more connected data environment, we have enhanced operational efficiency, strengthened decision-making capabilities and created a scalable foundation for future innovation,\" says SMU Chief Information Officer Lau Kai Cheong.\nThe overhaul was carried out through RISE with SAP, the company's programme for moving organisations' core enterprise systems to the cloud. SMU uses SAP Cloud ERP for finance and reporting, SAP SuccessFactors for human resources, SAP Ariba for procurement and SAP Concur for travel and expense management.\nSince the launch, 83% of users have been active on SAP SuccessFactors and close to 3,900 human-resource workflows have been initiated.\nMore than 10,000 suppliers have registered through SAP Ariba, while 4,700 purchase orders have been synchronised with SMU's finance system. More than 2,000 suppliers have also joined SAP Business Network.\nSMU also processed more than 3,600 expense claims through SAP Concur, along with 3,700 payments and more than 500 accounts receivable collections in the first month.\nSMU says the connected systems have improved oversight from supplier registration and sourcing through to invoicing and payment.
