Samsung Reclaims DRAM Crown as Micron Challenges SK Hynix

Dow Jones08-04 12:49

0449 GMT - Micron is poised to oust SK Hynix from the global No. 2 DRAM spot, with its revenue surging roughly fivefold since 2Q 2025, according to Counterpoint Research. Samsung reclaimed the top spot with a 39% market share in 2Q 2026, benefiting from strong conventional DRAM pricing that is expected to support profitability in the current quarter, the research firm says. Meanwhile, SK Hynix's share fell to 26% in 2Q from 39% a year earlier, pressured by lower HBM pricing and earlier long-term supply agreements, according to Counterpoint. China's CXMT, currently the fastest-growing DRAM vendor with a 7% market share, plans to use proceeds from its recent IPO to expand production of HBM and other advanced memory.
