ABC-Mart (TYO:2670) all-store sales grew 6.6% year-on-year in July as nationwide hot weather drove demand for summer goods and bolstered full-scale summer sales.
The retailer's existing stores posted a 6.7% year-on-year increase in sales, according to a Tuesday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The number of customers at all stores dropped nearly 0.8% while spending rose 7.5%.
At existing stores, customer count fell nearly 0.7% while sales per customer gained 7.4%.
The retailer opened three new stores and closed one during the month, bringing the total store count to 1,118.
