Axalta Seen Tracking Toward 2026 EBITDA Midpoint as Refinish, Truck Coatings Strength Builds, RBC Says

Axalta Coating Systems (AXTA) may reach the midpoint of its 2026 EBITDA guidance, supported by improving trends in its refinish business and steady demand in commercial vehicles, RBC Capital Markets said Thursday in a report.

RBC raised its 2026 and 2027 EBITDA estimates after Axalta on Tuesday delivered a Q2 beat on lower interest expenses and solid performance in commercial vehicle and performance coatings.

The refinish segment should see better volumes in Q4 as shop activity improves and inventory normalization continues, RBC said. In commercial vehicles, contract wins in Europe and ongoing heavy-duty truck production are expected to support H2 volume growth, the report said.

RBC also highlighted the planned merger with Akzo Nobel, noting that broader industrial exposure and integration benefits may strengthen Axalta's long-term earnings profile.

RBC maintained its sector-perform rating on Axalta and its $36 price target.
