Resources is zeroing in on its copper-gold portfolio in New South Wales’ revered Lachlan Fold Belt, unveiling a refined exploration strategy and a proposed name change to Orbit Resources.The move comes as the company looks to capitalise on a white hot copper-gold environment and a slew of recent drilling successes that have strengthened the case forpotentially sizeable copper-gold porphyry discoveries in the established mining region.Godolphin says the renewed focus will see it immediately deploy field crews to its wholly owned Mt Aubrey gold and Copper Hill East projects, aiming to quickly advance a pipeline of targets towards drill-ready status as activity in the region hits fever pitch.The strategic refocus follows the divestment of its non-core Gundagai and Calarie projects earlier this year and the proposed spin-out of its Narraburra rare earths project into a new IPO, Matrix Critical Minerals.The shake-up will streamline capital and technical firepower on its most promising gold and copper assets, which are nestled in a world-class mineral province that lays claim to porphyry behemoths like Newmont’s 40-million-ounce Cadia copper-gold mine.With a streamlined portfolio, a clear strategy and a strong pipeline of high-quality projects, Godolphin is well positioned to deliver exploration success, resource growth and long-term shareholder value as we pursue development activities at Lewis Ponds and testing of these exciting new gold and copper targets.Godolphin Resources managing director Jeneta OwensAmongst Godolphin’s flagship Lachlan Fold Belt projects are Lewis Ponds that already boasts a substantial gold and silver resource and a new discovery at its Cousin Jack prospect. However, a broader discovery generation focus will now be deployed across a substantial 1700-square-kilometre foothold in the Lachlan Fold.First on the company’s to-do list is the Mt Aubrey gold project, which already boasts an inferred mineral resource of 1.21 million tonnes at 1.61 grams per tonne for 62,400 ounces of contained gold. The project has a history of success, with BHP mining 120,000 tonnes at a solid 3.3 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from shallow open pits between 1989 and 1991.Godolphin says it is now planning aircore drilling to chase repetitions of historic high-grade gold mineralisation at the project, which includes a standout 22-metre intersection grading 2.15g/t gold from just 22m, containing a richer 6m core at a solid 7.21g/t gold.The company has identified a 6km-long gold corridor at Mt Aubrey, with quartz veins mapped west of the old pits returning surface grades up to a tantalising 13.5g/t gold.Just as intriguing is the Copper Hill East project which contains an 8km-long copper-gold corridor less than 10kms north of the established Copper Hill porphyry deposit. Management believes thenarrow, mineralised intrusions at the project could be offshoots from a much larger, concealed copper-gold porphyry system at depth.itsOther prospects within the corridor are also crying out for attention. The Three Rivers prospect has never been drilled despite a 550m copper trend and mullock samples from historical workings returning an eye-watering 12.6 per cent copper. The nearby Lyons prospect has delivered surface samples ready for follow-up, grading up to 4.41g/t gold and 2.26 per cent copper.With a streamlined copper-gold portfolio, a clear strategy and a grab-bag of high-quality targets, Godolphin is locked-in now on its Lachlan Fold Belt NSW discovery story.
