0718 GMT - Bitcoin trades slightly lower as investors remain cautious amid uncertainty over the Iran war. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the U.S. could reach a deal with Iran by Wednesday. President Trump said good discussions were underway but warned of renewed strikes if the Strait of Hormuz wasn't reopened soon. Iran has denied direct discussions with the U.S. Bitcoin could fall on risk aversion if negotiations fail, there is renewed military action or disruption to energy exports, Zaye Capital Markets analyst Naeem Aslam says in a note. However, prolonged geopolitical instability could later strengthen bitcoin as a "scarce and globally transferable asset outside traditional financial settlement systems." Bitcoin falls 0.2% to $64,184, LSEG data show.
