A Missouri court granted a request to postpone to Sept. 14 a hearing to consider the final approval of Bayer's proposed $7.25 billion class settlement over its Roundup weedkiller, the company said.
Bayer and the class counsel filed a joint motion with the St. Louis city circuit court earlier in the week to reschedule the hearing, which had been previously scheduled for Aug. 19.
The court's order will give the parties more time to go through requests from plaintiffs to revoke their decisions to opt out of the settlement, as well as opt-out invalidity challenges, Bayer said.
The company previously said some plaintiffs who had opted out of the settlement sought to revoke their decisions after the U.S. Supreme Court sided with Bayer in a case over claims that it failed to warn consumers about Roundup's potential cancer risks.
