Roche said it launched two new testing options for labs to address the public health impact of the cyclospora parasite.
One test is for the specific detection of cyclospora only using hydrolysis probe chemistry and the other includes multiplex real-time detection of a variety of intestinal parasites.
The tests have been released in collaboration with subsidiary TIB MOLBIOL, a Berlin-based biotechnology company.
Cyclospora is a parasite that is linked to contaminated fresh imported produce, providing challenges for food safety and industrial supply chains.
Dan Malarek, president and chief executive of Roche Diagnostics North America, said Roche's testing infrastructure and scientific partnerships will allow it to provide solutions that help labs respond to evolving public health needs.
