Amazon Pharmacy to Offer GLP-1 Weight-Loss Medications to Medicare Part D Patients

Amazon.com said Medicare Part D patients now have access to certain GLP-1 weight-loss medications through Amazon Pharmacy.

Oral and injectable versions of Novo Nordisk's Wegovy, Eli Lilly's Zepbound KwikPen and Foundayo pills will be available and cost $50 a month with free home delivery, Amazon said. It's offering same-day delivery in more than 3,100 U.S. locations, and no Prime membership is required, the company added.

The medications are available through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program, a short-term federal initiative running through Dec. 31, 2027, that allows eligible Medicare Part D members who meet specific clinical criteria to access weight management prescriptions.

Amazon Pharmacy manages the entire process, including verifying eligibility, handling prior authorizations, and initiating enrollment, once a clinician submits an electronic GLP-1 prescription, the company said. Customers need to link their Medicare information and Bridge insurance plan to their account.

"Once a patient's clinician sends the prescription, we take care of the rest and deliver their medication to their door," said Tanvi Patel, vice president and general manager of Amazon Pharmacy.

In April, Amazon said it was launching a program that provides access to GLP-1 treatments through its One Medical primary care arm. The program offers GLP-1 pills for $25 a month with insurance or $149 a month for cash-pay options. It is available at Amazon One Medical locations across the U.S., the company said.

In January, Amazon Pharmacy said it started offering Wegovy pills.
