Aptiv (NYSE: APTV) reported Q2 2026 revenue of $3.274 billion, up 2% from $3.199 billion, while GAAP diluted EPS from continuing operations rose to $1.40 from $1.21. Adjusted EBITDA margin expanded by 1.6 percentage points to 18.7%, but operating cash flow and free cash flow declined sharply. Results from the spun-off Electrical Distribution Systems business are classified as discontinued operations for all periods presented.
Core Earnings Data
Reported and adjusted revenue both grew 2%, while profitability increased faster than sales. Aptiv attributed the adjusted EBITDA margin improvement primarily to higher volumes and favorable foreign exchange, partly offset by increased commodity costs.
GAAP net income from continuing operations also benefited from higher operating income and lower interest expense, although quarterly tax expense increased to $52 million from $16 million.
| Metric | Q2 2026 | Q2 2025 | Year-over-year change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $3,274 million | $3,199 million | +2% |
| Approx. gross profit / margin | $775 million / 23.7% | $731 million / 22.9% | Approx. +6% / +0.8 pp |

| GAAP net income from continuing operations attributable to Aptiv | $298 million | $265 million | Approx. +12% |
| GAAP diluted EPS from continuing operations | $1.40 | $1.21 | Approx. +16% |
| Adjusted net income per share | $1.63 | $1.31 | Approx. +24% |

| Operating cash flow from continuing operations | $137 million | $326 million | Approx. -58% |
| Free cash flow | $12 million | $219 million | Approx. -95% |
Adjusted net income increased to $345 million from $285 million. The larger percentage increase in adjusted EPS also reflects a lower diluted share count, which declined to 212.10 million from 218.11 million.
Business and Segment Performance
Engineered Components was the main source of segment growth, with revenue up 5% and adjusted EBITDA up 17%. Intelligent Systems revenue was essentially unchanged, although its adjusted EBITDA increased 3%.
| Segment | Q2 2026 sales | Sales growth | Q2 2026 adjusted EBITDA | EBITDA growth |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Engineered Components | $1,800 million | +5% | $403 million | +17% |
| Intelligent Systems | $1,501 million | Approximately flat | $210 million | +3% |
Regional performance was uneven. Revenue grew 10% in North America and 6% in Asia Pacific, including 5% growth in China, but declined 8% in EMEA and 4% in South America. Management also reported double-digit growth in non-automotive revenue, though it did not provide an exact figure.
Margin Expansion Did Not Translate Into Cash Generation
The quarter’s central contrast was stronger operating profitability alongside much weaker cash conversion. For the first six months of 2026, operating cash flow from continuing operations fell to $82 million from $531 million, and free cash flow was negative $196 million compared with positive $264 million one year earlier.
The six-month cash-flow statement shows larger uses of cash from receivables and inventories. Accounts receivable absorbed $314 million and inventories absorbed $230 million, compared with $204 million and $108 million, respectively, in the prior-year period. Other operating changes used another $331 million, partly offset by a $144 million contribution from accounts payable.
At June 30, cash and cash equivalents stood at $761 million, down from $1.575 billion at the end of 2025, while long-term debt declined to $5.331 billion from $7.467 billion. Aptiv received an approximately $1.9 billion dividend in connection with the EDS spin-off and used the proceeds principally to redeem $1.847 billion of senior notes.
Aptiv also repurchased 4.1 million shares for $250 million during the quarter, bringing first-half repurchases to $325 million. The remaining authorization was $1.8 billion at quarter-end.
Earnings Guidance
Aptiv issued Q3 and full-year 2026 guidance for its continuing business following the EDS separation. The outlook calls for full-year adjusted EBITDA margin of 18.4% and positive free cash flow despite the first-half outflow.
| Metric | Q3 2026 guidance | Full-year 2026 guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Net sales | $3,120-$3,220 million | $12,600-$12,800 million |
| GAAP net income from continuing operations | $180-$200 million | $860-$900 million |
| GAAP net income margin | 6.0% | 6.9% |
| Adjusted EBITDA | $545-$575 million | $2,310-$2,370 million |
| Adjusted EBITDA margin | 17.7% | 18.4% |
| GAAP diluted EPS from continuing operations | $0.86-$0.96 | $4.06-$4.26 |
| Adjusted net income per share | $1.25-$1.35 | $5.60-$5.80 |
| Operating cash flow from continuing operations | — | $1,270-$1,370 million |
| Free cash flow | — | $625-$725 million |
Given negative free cash flow of $196 million in the first half, the full-year target implies approximately $821 million to $921 million of free cash flow in the second half.
Management’s View
Chair and CEO Kevin Clark described Q2 as Aptiv’s first quarter as “New Aptiv.” Management highlighted double-digit non-automotive revenue growth, progress moving robotics initiatives from partnerships to the commercial stage, and a commercial drone-market win secured in early July.
At the same time, management said the automotive macroeconomic environment remains dynamic and that customer mix has become an incremental headwind. Clark also linked continued capital returns to management’s view of Aptiv’s long-term value, noting that half of expected annual cash flow had already been allocated to share repurchases and that a similar allocation could continue over the next few years.

Risks Investors Need to Watch
- Second-half cash conversion: Achieving the full-year free cash flow target requires a substantial reversal from the first-half outflow, making working-capital improvement an important execution point.
- Automotive demand and customer mix: Management identified customer mix as an incremental headwind, while the 8% EMEA revenue decline shows that demand remains uneven across regions.
- Commodity costs: Higher commodity costs partly offset the benefits of increased volumes and favorable foreign exchange during Q2 and could continue to affect margins.
- Capital allocation and liquidity: Aptiv reduced debt materially, but cash also declined while the company continued repurchases. Persistent weakness in cash conversion could increase the trade-offs between buybacks and other cash needs.
Summary
Aptiv’s first quarter as a post-EDS company produced modest revenue growth and meaningful margin expansion, led by Engineered Components and stronger results in North America and Asia Pacific. The main counterweight was weak cash generation caused in part by working-capital outflows. Execution against the second-half free cash flow requirement, automotive customer mix, commodity costs, and the scaling of non-automotive businesses are the principal issues to monitor.
