Honda Motor (HMC) has outsourced development of a new vehicle program to Tata Technologies, an Indian engineering services firm, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.
The move is designed to help cut costs for the Japanese automaker, the news report said.
This platform is intended to accommodate conventional fossil fuel models as well as electrified powertrains for hybrids and electric vehicles, the people were cited as saying. The people, however, did not specify the markets in which the Tata-engineered vehicles will be sold.
Honda and Tata Technologies did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
