Market Chatter: Malaysia, Hong Kong to Roll Out Simplified Framework for Dual IPO Listings

MT Newswires Live08-11

Malaysia and Hong Kong will introduce a simplified framework for dual IPO listings next month, The Star reported Tuesday, citing Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook.

The framework follows a July 23 memorandum between Malaysia's Securities Commission and Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission that also expanded mutual recognition to ETFs and REITs, according to the report.

Loke said Bursa Malaysia's recognition by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing as a recognised stock exchange would allow Malaysian-listed companies to seek secondary listings in Hong Kong. He said the new arrangements could give Malaysian companies broader access to Hong Kong's capital market and investor base, The Star said.
