Singapore shares surged at the close on Tuesday, gaining nearly 1%, as trading resumed in the city-state following the Singapore Independence Day, despite mixed sentiments across regional indices, with investors unsure over the outcome of US-Iran talks over the Strait of Hormuz.

The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 5,667.05 and 5,774.21 throughout the day. It ended the session at 5,754.17, up 55.74 points or 1% compared to Friday's close.

In economic news, Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) upgraded the region's full-year 2026 GDP growth forecast to a range of 4.5% to 5.5%, significantly higher than the previous projection of 2% to 4%.

On the corporate front, shares of Datapulse Technology (SGX:BKW) surged nearly 50% at the close as its controlling shareholder and chief executive, Ang Kong Meng, has proposed a voluntary delisting of the company, alongside a conditional cash exit offer of SG$0.155 per share.

China Everbright Water's (SGX:U9E, HKG:0165) attributable profit to equity holders declined 8% during the first half of the year to HK$517.6 million from HK$563.8 million a year earlier.
