Malaysia's Industrial Production Index (IPI) rose 6.5 % year over year in June, according to data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) released on Tuesday.

The pace of growth slowed from the 8.5% increase recorded in the previous month. It beat the consensus forecast of a 2% growth tracked by Trading Economics.

The monthly performance was driven primarily by a 7.3% increase in the manufacturing sector and a 6.7% growth in electricity output, while mining output grew by 3.1%. Within manufacturing, output was supported by the production of computer, electronics & optical products, which sustained double-digit growth of 14.9%.
