Titan Mining logged a higher second-quarter profit as the combination of increased zinc production, lower operating costs and higher metal prices drove revenue higher.
The miner on Wednesday posted net income of $5.4 million, or 6 cents a share, compared with $500,000, or zero a share, in the comparable quarter a year ago.
Titan operates the Empire State Mine in Gouverneur, New York, which produces zinc, while also expanding into defense and battery-critical minerals such as graphite and germanium.
Revenue jumped 57% to $25.7 million, benefiting from higher zinc production, which was up 13% at 17.5 million payable pounds.
The average provisional price of zinc was up 7% from the previous quarter, with an average of $1.57 a pound, and Titan said the spot price of the metal has increased since quarter's end to a four-year high of near $1.70 a pound.
Cash costs were 88 cents a pound, down 15% from the first quarter, and below its guidance of 93 cents to $1.01 a pound.
