Trump Media and Technology Group stock was sliding on Tuesday after a slump in cryptocurrency prices caused the media company's second-quarter loss to widen.
Shares of the Truth Social parent, which trade under the ticker DJT in reference to President Donald Trump's initials, were 0.5% lower ahead of the opening bell, having tanked 8% on Monday.
Trump Media reported an adjusted loss of $238.1 million on revenue of $1.7 million after Monday's close. A year ago, the company reported a loss of $20.0 million on revenue of $900,000.
"The vast bulk" of the loss came from "unrealized losses on digital assets, digital assets pledged, and equity securities," the company said.
Trump Media held 9,477 Bitcoin with a fair value of $557.1 million as of June 30, according to its quarterly filing. It accumulated about $2 billion of Bitcoin in July 2025.
The world's largest cryptocurrency has plummeted 46% over the past 12 months, slumping due to legislation stalling in Congress and the prospect of central banks hiking interest rates.
Higher borrowing costs would make digital assets less attractive relative to interest-bearing investments such as bonds.
Trump Media said on Monday that it remains well positioned to complete its merger with nuclear fusion company TAE Technologies in the fourth quarter.
Trump Media and TAE announced in December 2025 that they would combine in an all-stock transaction valued at $6 billion.
The company also said it was already generating revenue from Truth API, a new service allowing traders to pay for instant access to Trump's Truth Social posts. More than 10 customers have signed up so far.
