6,301.77 at the close. The LQ45 index, which tracks 45 leading stocks, dropped 6.68 points, or 1.05 percent, to 627.16.“The decline was partly driven by several stocks being removed during the August 2026 MSCI index rebalancing, ahead of President Prabowo’s state of the nation address on the 2027 state budget, as well as profit-taking,” Phintraco Sekuritas Head of Research Ratna Lim said in a research note on Thursday.MSCI Review Weighs on JCIMSCI, a global index provider, made several changes to the composition of Indonesian stocks in its August 2026 review. Two Indonesian stocks were removed from the MSCI Global Standard Indexes, with one subsequently moved to the MSCI Global Small Cap Index.Another stock was moved to the MSCI Global Small Cap Index, while nine Indonesian stocks were removed from the small-cap index.The JCI opened higher but moved into negative territory before the end of the first trading session and remained in the red through the afternoon session.All but one of the 11 sectors tracked by the IDX-IC fell. The basic materials sector recorded the steepest decline at 2.93 percent, followed by energy at 2.32 percent and industrials at 2.31 percent.The biggest gainers included EKAD, BABY, AGAR, YPAS and PBSA, while the biggest decliners were DART, BIPP, TRUK, SHID and STAR.Asian Markets MixedAsian markets were mostly lower on Thursday after a rally in the previous session. China’s central bank, the People’s Bank of China (PBoC), pledged to introduce “practical and effective” policy support but gave no indication of a major monetary easing.The central bank also warned that history showed rapid monetary tightening following periods of substantial easing could trigger sharper market shocks.Trading volume on the Indonesia Stock Exchange reached 26.78 billion shares across 1.91 million transactions, with a total value of Rp1.90 trillion. A total of 186 stocks gained, 474 declined and 303 were unchanged.Among major Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei rose 1.24 percent to 68,362.00, while South Korea’s Kospi gained 3.56 percent to 6,813.34.
