MT Newswires Live08-15

Luigi Mangione is expected to plead guilty to federal charges related to the killing of former UnitedHealth (UNH) executive Brian Thompson, according to his lawyer, multiple media outlets reported Friday.

Mangione faces two counts of stalking in connection with Thompson's death in December 2024, Bloomberg said.

Brian Thompson was the chief executive officer of UnitedHealthcare, the health insurance segment of UnitedHealth.

In an email to MT Newswires, a UnitedHealth spokesman said "Brian Thompson's life was cut short by an act of violence that devastated everyone who knew and loved him. We are grateful to law enforcement for bringing Brian's murderer to justice, and our thoughts remain with Brian's family and loved ones during this difficult time."
