Canadian National Railway (CNI) said Friday it is advancing its hybrid locomotive program after a pilot project improved fuel efficiency by as much as 50%.
The company has three locomotives in testing and plans to convert two more to hybrid-electric platforms by the end of 2026.
Canadian National said the program is aimed at improving efficiency and reliability while reducing emissions.
